Why I think I chose the study of psychology
by Alex Delta inin the 1960s my mother and father came to this country knowing one language, one religion, and what hard work ethics were.
they were in a complete aw of what america was like.
they came here with very little knowledge and very little monies, so wed be safe to say that they were very gullible right.

In the 1960’s my mother and father came to this country knowing one language, one religion, and what hard work ethics were. They were in a complete aw of what America was like. They came here with very little knowledge and very little monies, so we’d be safe to say that they were very gullible right. We’re talking hardcore Catholics that you’d think would never convert. One morning, yes you guessed it on a Sat. there was a knock at the door. Two very well groomed individuals that spoke there language and lets not forget there wonderful smiles that lit up the sky, were there on their front door steps. They were their first guests, excited they invite them in. We all know what happens next, we all get the jiff. So the mustard seed was planted, the more family and friends that came from the old country the more that were devoured. It was amazing how many converted. They had enough from our family alone to start there own congregation in the matter of just a few years. We’ve all heard the saying the bigger it is the harder its fall, that’s exactly what happens and is continuing to happen as I write. So many cover ups, Divorces, D.F.ings, Panic attacks, Anxiety attacks, Bipolar disorders and many different stress related illnesses such as heart attacks etc… just in my family alone would make, All My Children, As The world Turns, Days Of Our Lives and any other soap look like Sesame Street. Being away from this environment now for 10 years I’m just starting to become healthier in a lot of different ways. I still am working things out but I truly now see that all these things were only happening in this circle. It took me a while to see it because that’s all I saw for so many years. Starting to talk to family members that never became a witness were so confused as people usually are told me our family history was fine until we came to the America’s and became J. W’s. I’ve done my own research on my family history and it’s really scary finding we came from an extremely healthy past. With this personal discovery of mine and the reading of so many others, has made me truly dedicate my life to psychology. I feel the stronger my mind is, the stronger I become. 10 years ago my brain was mush, I believe I was reborn when I decided to have no part of that society. Being a big time mommy's boy, and only knowing that way of life, I saw no future because of so many truths that were stolen from me. In bed for 4 months after my decision, bed soars all over my body, I attempted to take my own life. Having a mush brain made me fail that attempted as I believe I was extremely blessed that I survived, because now I can dedicate my life to helping others get thru it.

I remember growing up as a J dub that there was this story of a Smurf that bit the face of a young child. Did anyone remember any stories like that?

Any architects, designers, or contractors here?
by frozen one ini'm sick of my bathroom and want to remodel it.
does it pay to have a professional architect design a rehab or should i just go to home depot with the dimensions and use their computer to lay it out?
the space is pretty small for a bathroom and i'd like to maximize the use of space so i'm thinking a professional consultation would be in order.

A bathroom can be done cost effectively and turn out beautiful if nothing moves, such as where your plumbing or electrical fixtures may go. Move any of these things around especially your plumbing and your costs may rocket because you should diffidently hire a contractor if you don't know what your doing. If your a behind the desk type of person who doesn't know much of construction, yes you to can tackle this project but moving any fixtures this time around is not recommended. Baby steps is key to construction, like everything, its the practice that makes perfect. Home depot or any good reputable supply house will be a great help, but be sure to understand that many of these people think there know it alls and may lead you the wrong direction to thing's. Don't be afraid to politely ask them for credentials, or you can weed them out by asking them general questions that you can come with after your own research on how your going to approach your project, and that goes for sales rep to contractors. I would also definitely suggest you really take your time on all aspect of the project especially if its your first. The gratification that comes from a great job is really rewarding especially on your own home. I'd also be extremely cautious on the project because every time your using your new bathroom, the flaws may haunt you, at least thats what it would do to me. I wish you the best and am sure if you take this advice you will do just fine.

Today is the first day I was able to come out and say something that was on my mind by just replying to some subjects on this forum. I thank you very much for it. I see that it’s really a therapeutic way to get some of these things off my chest. I was D’fd almost 10 years ago and I just now am starting to come out and play. These years were not easy for me, and I’m sure most of all of you has had your crazies as well. I should be honest and say that I don’t feel right yet to use my real name but am sure I will soon. Thank you.

What type of person are you attracted to now?
by Layla33 ini was just thinking about this the other day, about how my ideas of a romantic partner have changed since being a jw.. growing up, i thought i would marry a very upstanding jw, we would pioneer together, do missionary work, have children, see the world.
(never had any thoughts about bethel, though.
) so what it boiled down to was a stepford husband, up tight, not the least bit sexual, closed minded bore.. so now that i have grown up, seen the world, been married (and actually picked a good man the first time, although it didn't work out), i just contrast that with what i am attracted to now.. i like them open minded, earthy, i love artistic types because i am a published writer, hair doesn't matter to me (long/short, bald, etc), challenges convention, very sexual, still like a traveling man.. i am just curious if you anyone else can compare and contrast how their ideas have changed since breaking out the group-think of the jw organization..

I think anyone would change most of there views on every thing after being a JW I'm taking it as a hard hit learning curve for the better. I'm attracted to a woman who is opened minded that truly understands the meaning of moderation of all aspects to life. Corny, yet deep I think.

Hi, my name is Alex and I truly am sorry you’re going through this experience. I hope you understand that the victim is not you but them. You might ask how they are the victim. Well if you look at it in the way how they are trapped by this fear of what they are taught, and what may happen to them by the society or by Jehovah at judgment day, hopefully you’ll approach this situation in a manner that they may not only see this fear they have but also not offend them at the same time. This is extremely hard to do for me at least because of so much pain that, that organization has put on me. Maybe by approaching them in a very loving manner as I’m sure you have before but in such a way that they will be haunted. They are human, and have feelings, suppressed feeling that they will think of. By you giving them this large loving approach at the same time letting them know how you will except there wishes, maybe if they can at least accept the photo’s or even better the video of your wedding. These are the way’s they try and use some of the largest moments of our lives to break us. Don’t think it’s not hurting them as much as it’s hurting you. They are psychologically being ripped from the inside. You truly must understand that this organization has a very large hold on them even if they are inactive they always have to look over there shoulders, they truly are victims.
